Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and Roden Consult SRL, a company registered in Romania (“we”, “us”, “Scrubbr”), and govern your use of the Scrubbr application and the website at scrubbr.app (together, the “Service”). By downloading, installing, or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Scrubbr is a macOS application that detects and replaces sensitive information (such as names, emails, phone numbers, addresses, card and account numbers) in text. Detection and redaction run entirely on your device. An optional paid plan (“Pro”) unlocks additional features and downloadable detection models. Our servers (api.scrubbr.app) provide software updates, the model catalog, optional analytics, and subscription management.

2. Licence to use Scrubbr

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use Scrubbr for your personal or internal business purposes, subject to these Terms. You may not:

• copy, redistribute, resell, sublicense, or make the Service available to third parties;
• reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the detection models or source code, except where this restriction is prohibited by law;
• circumvent, disable, or tamper with licensing, entitlement, or security mechanisms;
• use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.

The Service is licensed, not sold. We and our licensors retain all intellectual-property rights in the Service.

3. Subscriptions, billing & our reseller

Pro is offered as an auto-renewing subscription. Our order process is conducted by our reseller Paddle.com Market Ltd (“Paddle”), the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle handles billing, payment, and the calculation and remittance of applicable taxes (e.g. VAT), and provides related customer service. Your purchase is also subject to Paddle’s terms.

• The price and billing interval are those shown at checkout. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until cancelled.
• You may cancel at any time; cancellation stops future renewals, and your Pro access continues until the end of the current paid period.
• Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy.

4. Licence keys and entitlement

Pro access is tied to a licence key and an entitlement issued to you. Keep your licence key confidential and do not share it. We may verify your entitlement in order to provide Pro features and downloads. We may suspend Pro access where a subscription is unpaid, cancelled, refunded, or used in breach of these Terms.

5. Acceptable use

You are responsible for the content you process with the Service and for using it in compliance with all applicable laws. You must not use the Service to violate the rights of others or to process content you are not authorised to handle.

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement, and without warranty that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will detect all sensitive information. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of the above may not apply to you.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of the Service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us (via Paddle) for the Service in the twelve (12) months before the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including your statutory rights as a consumer.

9. Changes to the Service and these Terms

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue parts of the Service, and we may update these Terms from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to notify you. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including sections 7, 8, and 11) will survive.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Romania, and the courts of Romania have jurisdiction, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have in your country of residence.
